New Rural Health Centre

The Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences - Deemed University started its own Rural Health Centre (RHC) - 9th in the series, at Village Lohare-Mirpur on 9th April 2013, as part of WHO Day celebrations. The new RHC is another step towards strengthening the PIMS University-Community Partnership for improving access and sustainable health in the remote rural area. The services of RHC reach about 12000 general populations inhabited in 6 villages (Lohare, Mirpur, Primri Lokai, Mendavan, Kasare, Wadzare) 10-20 Km away from the University.

The RHC provides general medical, maternal, child and adolescent health and laboratory services. These routine medical services are augmented by specialist services on regular periodical visits by PIMS University Medical and Dental Hospital and Physiotherapy faculty.

The RHC was inaugurated by Shri Rajendra E. Vikhe Patil, CEO, PIMS-DU in the presence of Dr. S.D. Dalvi, Vice Chancellor, PIMS-DU and Dr. Nagargoje, ADHO, Public Health Department, Ahmednagar. The inaugural function was well attended by Heads of Institutes and faculty of PIMS-DU and general public of Lohare and its neighbouring villages. The RHC is run by the Centre for Social Medicine (CSM) - a constituent unit of PIMS-DU.

Dr. Vaibhav Kapoor, Surgery Resident won the 1st prize in BEST PAPER SESSION atNational Conference ASICON 2012 held at Kolkata, titled "Analysis of application and diagnostic importance of the Alvarado Scoring in patients with right iliac fossa pain" 

This paper was selected for National competition presentation on the basis of winning the first prize at State Conference MASICON 2012 . The other presenters were First prize winner of respective state surgical conference held in 2012.

This paper was declared winner out of this stiff competition. We congratulate Dr.Vaibhav for this rare & prestigeous achievement!

Pravara Institute of Medical Science - Demmed University has been empanelled by National Health System Resource Centre (NHSRC),Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,Government of India for Providing "Technical Consultancy"   for conducting research in Public Health in the feild of RCH,Nutrition and Gender,Human Resources Training For Health,evaluation of  Community process under  NRHM,Information systems,Health financing and quality care,This empanelment is effective from December 2012 upto 31.03.2014

The  Centre of Social Medicine (CSM)-a constituent of unit of PIMS - Deemed University will coordinate with NHSRC, New Delhi and other constituent institutes/centres of PIMS for smooth conduction of the activity.

Empanelled for Health Research by SHSRC

Empanelled for Public Health Research by SHSRC, Pune

PIMS - Deemed University has been empanelled by State Health Systems Resource Centre (SHSRC), Pune, Government of Maharashtra for providing technical support to National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and Public Health Department (PHD) of Maharashtra.  As a technical consultant, PIMS is expected to extend project based consultancy to SHRC in the fields of Public Health, Economics, Human Resource Development. This empanelment is effective from Nov 2012 up to Oct. 2013.  

The Centre for Social Medicine (CSM) -  a constituent of unit of PIMS - Deemed niversity will coordinate with SHSRC, Pune and other constituent institutes/centres of PIMS for smooth conduction of the activity. 
As on December 2012, the following three evaluation research studies are in progress at PIMS - Deemed University sanctioned by SHSRC, Pune  

1. Evaluation of Functioning of District Appropriate Authority and District Advisory 
   Councils constituted under PCPNDT Act in Maharashtra.
2. Evaluation of two service NGOs from Akola and Thane.
3. Evaluation of Community-based Monitoring of Health Services in Maharashtra.
